Teaching in Real Life
Hey friends!!!
A few random things and lessons learned this week...
THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEK:
WE GOT TO TEACH A REAL IN PERSON LESSON THIS WEEK. It was awesome. Our Stake President invited us over to his house to teach his grandkids about the Restoration, so we all sat in a circle outside together. The cute kids bore their testimonies of God's love and the Spirit was TANGIBLE! My heart was so full as I got to bear my testimony of a modern day prophet IN REAL LIFE. So much better than over zoom.
Hahahaha at what I'd call the "spiritual climax" of the lesson, the little boy let out the loudest fart I've ever heard lol. It was terrible timing, and totally threw me and Sister Loudin off track, but we all got a good laugh out of it haha
When I first came out on my mission, I was so scared about everything!! Haha I feel so bad for my trainer... the thought of knocking on someone's door or just walking up to a stranger and sharing a piece of my heart TERRIFIED ME. Over time, it got a lot easier, and now at 17 months it just feels normal life! I haven't felt nervous about doing missionary work in a long time, but this week, fears came back.
It was strange, but I learned a few things from it.
A couple weeks ago, Sister Loudin and I both had a really strong impression that our friend Amber's heart is prepared and she is ready for us to extend a baptismal invitation to her. We had a lesson with her this week and we studied and planned what we were going to teach. But for some reason we were both SO NERVOUS. We had to practice how we were going to invite Amber to be baptized on each other haha. But I knew that both Sister Loudin and I received Revelation about Amber, so we had to act. No matter how scary! The big day finally came and we had our lesson (in person again !!) When we showed up, Amber's mom was wearing a shirt that said "Faith over fear" ... a little reminder from God to not worry!! The lesson went well and I was able to extend the baptismal invitation with confidence in my Heavenly Father. And you know what.... it didn't turn out the way I was hoping it would. This time, Amber let her fear get in the way.
I still am confident in the revelation I recieved, and I am grateful that God gave me the courage to act on it! I know there will come a time when Amber's heart AND mind will be ready, and she won't let the doubts in her mind stop her! I know that God doesn't give us fear. He doesn't speak to us that way. The adversary makes us feel scared especially when we choose the right. He doesn't want us to follow God so he throws fear our way to try and stop us. Don't let him! Let your faith be bigger than your fear!! I am grateful that I learned that this week, and I pray that Amber will be able to recognize the same thing!
I hope you all have a great week. Don't let fear stop you from doing what you know you should. Following Heavenly Father is always the better choice.
LOVE YOU!!
