One Year and the Power of the Book of Mormon

ONE YEAR. I have been set apart as a missionary for one full year! I can't believe it. times flies, but I'm guessing my mom would say different... haha! this has been my favorite year though! full of so many new friends, lessons learned, and faith building experiences. being a missionary is the hardest thing I have done, but by far the most rewarding!
this week was way good. we had a couple super solid lessons with our friends that I want to tell you about. we also had a couple not so good ones lol. our friend got broken up with over text during our lesson this week :/ it was interesting haha. ahhhhh the joys of serving in YSA!
we had a lesson with Chaehyun again! we gave her Alma 18 & 22 to read, but she ended up reading 18 THROUGH 22 :0 so that was awesome. we went over chapter 22 together which is all about King Lamoni's father's conversion. as we read, Chaehyun was blown away that this actually happened!! as we were reading, we invited her to put herself into the story and relate it to her personal conversion. when we finished the chapter, Chaehyun stopped and said, "If King Lamoni's father could get an answer, then I think I can too." it was almost too perfect. I felt like I was back at the MTC teaching "investigators" (actually returned missionaries lol) who were trying to help us move our lessons forward by being super receptive while we were still getting the hang of being missionaries haha. but she's real!! the Spirit was really strong as she said her first prayer to Heavenly Father out loud. I know she will get an answer that He is there because I know He has answered me.
another lesson was with our girl Jaiden! I think I've talked about her before. I can't remember, but she is way cool. she's grown up in Utah so she is quite familiar with the church. most of her family are members. but she's finally ready to find out the truth for herself. we invited her to read Mosiah 18-- which teaches what we covenant at baptism. during our lesson we followed up on her reading and asked what she liked about it. she pulled out a cute journal edition of the Book of Mormon and opened up to a colorfully marked Mosiah 18. she had highlighted parts she liked as she read and wrote her thoughts in the margins! AWW! she said her favorite part was verse 10 which says," Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you?" I was like UM YEAH THAT'S MY FAVORITE PART TOO haha! It was awesome. we invited her to pray about a baptismal date and we are going to follow up tonight. I am so excited for her!!
this week reconfirmed to me the POWER of the Book of Mormon! reading the scriptures invites the Spirit who has the ability to change people and turn their hearts to God. I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon. I know it is true! I would be lost without it!
sending lots of love!
