The Things I Know

Hello everybody!!

I can't believe it's almost Thanksgiving! time flies so fast! hopefully with the holiday season coming up more people will be willing to talk about Jesus Christ, since He is the true reason for the season 🤞🙏

Here's a quick update on some of my friends! Franklin is doing great! He's learning a lot! Including two new English words he can add to his vocabulary during our lessons -- "yup" & "gotcha." This week we taught him about commandments and the importance of following what God has asked us to do. We read scriptures about the blessings promised to those who keep the commandments and he was amazed yet again! When we committed him to obey a couple of the commandments we taught him, his reply was, "Yup!" Haha I love his faith and willingness to obey!

My friend Andy (who got baptized earlier this year) moved this week 😥 sad! My very first lesson in the field was with him! I had just gotten to the mission and met my trainer a couple hours before so I was super overwhelmed and scared. Haha he still likes to make fun of me for how nervous I was. But it has been fun to see him grow spiritually over the past few months! He reads the Book of Mormon consistently and always has wonderful insights to share about what he's read! He's also a faithful reader on my blog, so hey Andy 👋 lol

We made a new friend this week named Brittni. She is so sweet! Growing up her family was Buddhist, but she stopped practicing when she was pretty young. We had two lessons this week and it has been interesting teaching her since she has no Christian background at all. We have had to go slowly so we don't overwhelm her. Our first lesson was all about who God and Jesus Christ are to us. Her heart is open and she is willing to "experiment on the word" by following through with the invitations we extend to her. I know as she does things that require faith, her faith will grow!

Since meeting her, I have reflected on how different my life would be if I had no sort of belief in God or Jesus Christ. It would be hard and dark and sometimes hopeless! I made a list of some of the things I wouldn't know that I can't imagine not knowing:

Without God, I wouldn't know...
- the purpose of life on Earth
- where I came from and where I'm going
- that my family does not cease to exist after death, but we will be together for eternity!
- through accessing the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I can be forgiven for my mistakes. My imperfections can be made whole through His infinite sacrifice.
- I can receive strength to overcome my trials from the enabling power of Jesus Christ. His Atonement heals so much more than just sin.
- my divine worth and infinite potential as a daughter of God.
- that there is so much more than the here and now. eternal perspective helps me realize the struggles we experience in mortality are "but a small moment" in the scope of eternity.
- what true peace, joy, and love feel like!
- that I am never alone.

The list could go on and on and on and on! I am so grateful for the knowledge that there is a God and He loves me!! I am even more grateful to be able to share that truth with all my brothers and sisters ❤ missions are hard! But they're so good. These truths must be shared!!

I LOVE YOU ALL! but more importantly, God loves you! have a wonderful week!

Love, Sister Keeler 😊
