More parades and doing the simple things
Hey everyone!!
This week was wonderful! We got to be in our 2nd parade of the month this week for Pioneer Day (which is even bigger than the 4th of July here in Utah!) We got to escort a few floats down the parade route. All the other companionships in my zone got to escort big, beautiful floats made by the local wards and I got assigned to .... a dump truck. It was magical nonetheless!!This week I really was reminded of how doing the simple things (like going to church, praying and reading the scriptures) is so important!
For the past 3 months, Sister Whetten and I have been trying to get one of our friends who was baptized about a year ago to come to church and this week it finally happened!! Well, it didn't just happen... it took a lot of hard work!! We had to knock on her door periodically to make sure she was still getting ready, and hadn't fallen asleep, we had to walk her dog for her and we had to find her a ride. But she made it and took notes the whole time and my heart was so happy 😊
I've been trying to read from the Book of Mormon more with the people we're teaching. It invites the Spirit so strongly and I have seen people's lives change because of that Spirit. Our friend Kie being one of them! Her family has been not so active in the church for the past little while so the Bishop had us reach out to her. We've been reading the Book of Mormon with her and she has started to read it on her own!! She reads at least once chapter everyday and highlights her favorite verses. Her testimony has grown and church attendance has increased dramatically! She said that she has felt so much happier and recognizes that it is because she is setting aside time for the scriptures each day. I completely agree! I have felt that as I've dedicated a portion of my time to the Lord by reading the scriptures, that I have been so much happier!
I know that the Gospel requires effort and sometimes it can feel like a lot! But it is so worth it! We are blessed so much more than what is required of us 😊
Love you all!!
❤, sister keeler
