So long, farewell, and may the Good Lord take a Likin' to ya!
Hey friends! Happy monday!
This week's subject line is a quote from a nice old man at subway. We got our food, set it down at a table, and then went to get our drinks. We didn't get back to our table to start eating until probably 20 minutes later because basically everyone in the resturant wanted to talk to us haha! As he was leaving, the nice man we were talking to came by and said "so long, farewell, and may the good Lord take a likin' to ya!" it was so cute! The people here are wonderful!
This week we had exchanges! Honestly, I was terrified because that meant I got a new companion for the day and I had to lead the whole day! I am still getting the hang of the whole missionary thing, so I was praying a lot this week that it would go smoothly! And it did! Sister Thornton and I had a great day! We were able to contact people that my comp and I have been trying to get a hold of for the past month! We have a lesson this week because of it. Sister Thornton is a wonderful missionary. She is very gifted at connecting with people! I am inspired by the way she teaches with the Spirit, simply and boldly. I want to be a missionary like her!
This week I learned a lot about following promptings!! We had a lesson with our friend Elias. He is 19 and moved to Utah from Brazil during high school. His parents are Catholic and that's how he was raised. He has been taught by missionaries before and was going to get baptized, but his parents told him to wait a year and then decide. Well, the year mark is coming up!
We felt prompted to teach the first lesson again because it had been a long time since he had been taught it. We testified of our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ and their love for us. We ran out of time and we weren't able to finish the whole lesson so we gave Elias some "homework" to read Joseph Smith History before our next lesson. Elias said that he would and told us that Joseph Smith is actually the main reason he has put off being baptized! We had no idea before that lesson! We were so grateful that we followed the prompting to teach the Restoration and that we ran out of time! because next time we can focus on Joseph Smith and all of the great things he did!
God wants to help us, we just need to listen!
I hope you all have a lovely week! Enjoy the sunshine! I am sending my love from Bountiful, UT!
with love, Sister Keeler
